Discover the Road of the Roman Emperor, a fascinating culture tour through Serbia. The tour follows the Danube to the city of Niš and includes a number of key sights from the Roman period. Serbia is the birthplace of 16 of 52 Roman Emperors, including Constantine the Great. The magnifiscent archaeological site Felix Romuliana at Gamzigrad is under UNESCO protection.
DAY 1. BELGRADE
Arrival in Belgrade, Serbia’s capital city, meeting at the airport and transfer to a hotel. You will have an opportunity to feel the magical atmosphere of a city that is alive day and night. Enjoy dinner at a terrace restaurant at Kalemegdan Fortress. Overnight.
DAY 2. BELGRADE
Breakfast. Panoramic sightseeing and guided walking tour of the city, including the main sites. Lunch at a terrace restaurant at Kalemegdan Fortress. In the evening, visit old Skadarlija street, Belgrade’s bohemian quarter. Dinner in a national restaurant with music. Overnight.
DAY 3. BELGRADE – SREMSKA MITROVICA – NOVI SAD
Breakfast. Continuing the trip toward Sremska Mitrovica (Sirmium), which used to be a Roman metropolis and the center of the Roman province of Panonia. Depart for Novi Sad. Accommodation in a hotel. Lunch at Petrovaradin Fortress. Panoramic sightseeing and visits to the most prominent sites of Novi Sad. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 4. NOVI SAD – VIMINACIUM – GOLUBAC FORTRESS – LEPENSKI VIR – KLADOVO
Breakfast. Depart Novi Sad and head to Eastern Serbia. Visit the Roman city of Viminacium, one of the most important Roman villages in Serbia from the first century.
Drive to Silver Lake, where lunch will be served. Visit the 14th century fortress Golubacki grad, one of the most beautiful and best preserved monuments of medieval architecture. Following the tour, you will have an opportunity to visit Lepenski Vir, one of the oldest and best preserved Neolithic archeological sites in this part of Europe. Arrive in Kladovo and accommodation in a hotel. Dinner. Overnight.
DAY 5. KLADOVO – ROMULIANA – ZAJECAR
Breakfast. Continuing the trip toward Zajecar and visit to Rajacke pimnice, a collection of cellars famous for their wine. Lunch at a national restaurant. Visit to the Roman town of Romuliana. Felix Romuliana was erected by the Roman Emperor Galerije at the end of 3rd century A.C. Arrive in Zajecar and accommodation in a hotel. Dinner. Overnight.
DAY 6. ZAJECAR – NIS
After breakfast, depart for Nis and accommodation in a hotel. Visit the most prominent city sites and the Nis Fortress and Cele Kula. Lunch at a national restaurant. Visit Naissus, the birthplace of the Roman emperor Constantine the Great..
Mediana was built in the luxurious suburb of Naissus, which featured numerous palaces and villas built by Constantine. Arrive at the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 7. NIS – BELGRADE
Breakfast. Depart for the Belgrade airport.
